There are myriad reasons you might be considering psychotherapy. You may have identified something that is the matter: perhaps feeling anxious or down or depressed, or noticing the same kinds of relational problems occurring over and over, or feeling tangled up in relationship with food and your body, or feeling stuck. Maybe you are grappling with a loss or life transition, or struggling with traumas that continue to reverberate. Or you may have a more general sense of wanting to get to know yourself better. Whatever brings you here, welcome.
The psychotherapy I offer is aimed at increasing your sense of freedom and presence in your life. My hope, and my approach to therapy, is to collaborate with you to understand why you are hurting the way you are, and to find where stuck points or unconscious patterns get in the way of your ability to play, love, find meaning, and do things that matter to you. I listen carefully, with attention and curiosity, and together we explore who you are as a whole person, how your struggles are woven into the fabric of your life, and new ways of thinking, being, and relating.
Every person seeking therapy is different and thus each therapeutic treatment is necessarily unique and responsive to our experiences together. My work is anchored in contemporary psychoanalysis, and supported by attachment theory, affective neuroscience, and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
