“The body says what words cannot.” — Martha Graham
Our minds, emotions, and bodies are intimately connected. In incorporating knowledge and wisdom from somatic psychology and interpersonal neurobiology, I support patients in developing the tools to attune to their own bodies and work with states of arousal and activation on the level of the nervous system. This can result in increased embodiment, increased self-awareness, increased ability to implement self-regulation skills, and an increased sense of wholeness. While body-based interventions can be particularly helpful for individuals who experience traumatic activation and dissociative experiences, I believe that all humans can benefit from attention to their embodied selves.
